CITME in Beijing gives rise to optimism.
Organizers of the CITME staged in Beijing/China from October 15 - 19 can congratulate themselves on a highly successful trade fair if only from the point of view of the surprisingly high attendance.
Mayer & Cie. also profited from the popularity of the fair, with practically all its important customers - also from Southern China - paying a visit to the MCT stand.
Products on show at the stand included a fully electronic OVJA 1.6 ETR circular knitting machine with transfer and striping attachment. This exhibit provided an impressive demonstration of just what can be achieved with modern circular knitting technology in jacquard and rib constructions using the full three-way technique. Decisive features here include maximum flexibility and minimal resetting times. The InterRib 4-2.4 - the other machine on show - is capable of knitting astounding quantities using 72 feeders with a 30" diameter. Visitors to the show were just as impressed by its high productivity coupled with optimum quality as by the wide range of different constructions and the facility for external cam switchover in the cylinder and dial.
The Chinese market, which has held a particular significance for Mayer & Cie. for many years, is growing in importance all the time and accounts for an ever greater proportion of the total MCT production output. Mayer & Cie. has addressed this growing demand by establishing a new service centre in Shanghai. MCC is a fully owned subsidiary which will be covering not only servicing requirements but also additional aftersales activities in the future, including training courses, spare parts availability and a patterning service.
The establishment of the new subsidiary was greeted with enthusiasm by visitors to the Mayer & Cie. CITME stand. MCC's Director Mr. Kaden was able to form a large number of interesting contacts and arrange visits to potential customers at the show.
Manufacturers particularly from Europe consider China to be currently the single most important market. However, success in the Chinese market depends upon the existence of a qualified on-site presence - a condition that Mayer & Cie. working in conjunction with MCC is ideally placed to fulfil.
