The celebrations began with the official part: Rainer Mayer welcomed the guests and Tanja Gönner, Minister for the Environment, conveyed the state’s congratulations. Dr. Thomas Lindner, managing director of Groz-Beckert, spoke on behalf of the VDMA and the Chamber of Commerce. He emphasised the importance of the cooperative partnership with Mayer & Cie. for the whole region and presented Mr. Rainer Mayer with a collage which incorporated golden needles made by the company Groz-Beckert.
Wolfgang Beneke spoke in his capacity as the chairman of the work’s council and presented Sibylle, Peter, Rainer and Marcus Mayer each a board game that had been made by trainees in the apprentice workshop.
Marcus Mayer conveyed the thanks of the Mayer family in his capacity as a fourth generation member of the management. The official part of the program was rounded off by music performed by the Ebingen music school and the Mayer & Cie. anniversary choir which had been organised especially for the event.
Afterwards, visitors had the opportunity to take part in guided and individual tours of the company during which the children could see where their fathers and mothers worked. There were refreshments available in the tent and the outdoor seating area whilst the children were happy to play on the playground. The company trainees had their own stand and provided information about their various professions.
The large tent was filled with entertainment provided by the Heusteig-Musikanten, fashions shows by the Maschenmuseum, the kids’ jazz groups and the Reutlingen polytechnic together with AWG. The party lasted well into the night with visitors dancing to hip-swinging music from the Desperados.
The original idea was to organise a party for the employees, their families and the general public as Mayer & Cie. wanted to celebrate with the local townspeople and those from the region – and they accomplished this very successfully.
