Mayer & Cie. at the Textile Symposium 2002 in Bangladesh.
For the world's leading manufacturer of circular knitting machines Mayer & Cie, Bangladesh has represented a highly important market for a number of years. Since 1998, Mayer & Cie. has supplied over 400 machines to Bangladesh - and the tendency is rising!
So it was a matter of course for Mayer & Cie. to support a projected textile machine symposium to be staged in Bangladesh jointly by the VDMA and Germany's Ministry of the Economy. The symposium was held on October 29 and 30 2002 in Dhaka, and was attended by no fewer than 18 leading German manufacturers active in the textile machinery product sector.
The significance of the symposium was reflected not only in audience of over 250 interested participants made up of textile manufacturers and students from the Dhaka Textile College, but also by the fact that the opening was attended by high-ranking politicians. Important figures from the Bangladeshi political scene included Finance and Planning Minister Mr. Rahman and Minister of Trade Mr. Chowdhury. German politics was represented by the Ambassador Mr. Andreas, while from Mayer & Cie. Sales Director Oliver Scharf, Regional Sales Manager Rudolf Crass and regional representative Mr. Waqar A. Choudhury of Nascom (Pvt) Ltd., were all present.
The knitting technology sector was covered by Mayer & Cie. and GROZ-Beckert. Representing MCT, Rudolf Crass illustrated the development of the circular knitting machine through to the efficient production unit. State-of-the-art circular knitting machines of the type offered by Mayer & Cie. offer almost unlimited scope for application, not only in the world of fashion. Their enormous flexibility and productivity are decisive factors in guaranteeing the international competitive capability of today's circular knitting factories.
Rudolf Crass referred in his talk to the comprehensive Mayer & Cie. range, encompassing an impressive 50 machine models to cover just about every conceivable requirement. As a family firm committed to traditional values well into its third generation in the capable hands of the Mayer family, Mayer & Cie. may lay claim to an exemplary standard of quality and a leading-edge technological position.
There was a general consensus among all those involved that the symposium had been a success. For Mayer & Cie. as for many of its customers in Bangladesh, the event was welcomed as an important opportunity to further reinforce existing successful contacts.
