EMAS certification for Mayer & Cie. Environmental Management System.

Companies operating within Europe can opt to subject their Environmental Management Systems to voluntary scrutiny under the eco-management and auditing scheme (EMAS) according to EU regulation 761/2001. This regulation supersedes the former Eco Audit. Mayer & Cie., the world's biggest manufacturer of circular knitting machines, has been successfully audited, and on January 28th was presented with its EMAS registration certificate by the Environmental Director at the Reutlingen Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Albrecht Walcher.

The importance attached to environmental conservation at Mayer & Cie. over many years is clearly demonstrated by its certification under the former "Eco Audit" scheme. The Mayer & Cie. Environmental Management System has been certified to DIN ISO 14001 since 1999. As long ago as 1997, the company also achieved quality certification to DIN ISO 9001. This achievement provides impressive proof that no-compromise product and service quality can be successfully combined with active environmental protection.

This achievement makes Mayer & Cie. probably the only company in its field to hold all three certificates.
