Rib, interlock or single jersey – all on a single machine.
Flexibility will be an underlying theme of the Mayer & Cie. presentation at the ITMA. With its FSI 3-2.0 QC, the world’s leading manufacturer of circular knitting machines will be presenting the first ever machine capable of knitting the whole range of popular knitted structures in double and single jersey. With 3 needle tracks in the cylinder and 2 needle tracks in the dial, this machine is capable of knitting top quality rib fabric across the entire underwear range from plain rib to rib structures just as easily as 3 needle track single jersey fabrics such as fleece, structures, piqué and much more. Automatic knitting-on after a yarn breakage without the need for laborious joining on is a familiar feature from the FS 2.0, and helps enhance productivity still further in the new FSI 3-2.0 QC. The simple “Quick Change” gauge conversion feature familiar in Mayer & Cie. machines offers even greater flexibility to respond to changing market demands at short notice.
Gauges up to E 60 in top-class quality.
The “knitted silk effect” achieved by "Fine Touch" models from Mayer & Cie. circular knitting machines is considered to be leading worldwide. For the ITMA, Mayer & Cie. will be even adding E60 to the existing fine gauges of E36, E44 and E50.
With its MV4-3.2 II, Mayer & Cie. will be presenting a machine capable of processing high-grade yarns in cotton, polyester and other synthetics in high gauges of up to E 60 with the same degree of reliability and outstanding quality, as well as full plating at every feeder.
The new feeder CONI ++, which lays threads neatly side by side (standard feature from E 36 on), additional sinker cam carriers for absolute bearing stability and temperature control (standard feature from E 36 on) for optimized operating temperatures right from the start are all just as decisive to ensuring reliable production as diagonally adjustable stitch cams in which the needle clearance height is unaffected by the stitch length. This feature guarantees reliable press-off – a particularly valuable characteristic with lightweight knits.
The MV4-3.2 II is a shining example of performance plus versatility. Single jersey with 2 or 4 needle structures, from gauge 12 to 60, 3.2 feeders per inch (96 feeders with a 30 inch diameter) and speeds of up to 1.3 m/s. This makes it the ideal single jersey machine for high-volume crepe, two-thread fleece or single plated production as well as a specialist in the production of ultra-fine fabrics for use in applications such as underwear, shirts, blouses and high-grade outerwear.
Elastomer plating at full machine output.
Relanit technology with its proven system of gentle yarn treatment due to fewer deflection points is well known and appreciated for its high output and productivity. A further development of the Relanit 3.2 II machine has now advanced into a whole new performance dimension in elastomer full plating production. Using an optional high-speed kit, it reaches speeds of up to 45 rpm for full elastomer plating of single jersey – a new world record!
The Relanit 3.2 II with 4 needle structures is specifically tailored to cope with modern yarns. Through the use of Relanit technology, it processes cotton with the same reliability as all the currently popular synthetics – with the familiar Relanit output capacity for high-volume production.
Full jacquard design and structures
The Mayer & Cie. jacquard machine OVJA 1.6 E with electronic individual needle selection in the cylinder is something of a unique success story. With thousands of this machine model in daily operation in knitting factories the world over, this machine remains a top seller.
This success story has now taken on a new dimension. With the OVJA 1.6 EE, knitters are now offered electronic individual needle selection not only in the cylinder but in the dial too, opening up whole new possibilities for production. As the dial needles also perform a pattern function, full jacquard designs and structures can now be produced on both fabric sides. This opens up whole new scope for creativity in the fashion world as well as extending patterning possibilities for mattress production.
MCT electronics with just one magnet per feeder and individual needle selection – both in the cylinder and the dial – provide not just the most reliable solution but also extreme handling convenience. Minimal resetting times make even small batch sizes economically viable.
Everything fashion demands – in a single machine.
Where equally stringent demands are made on flexibility and fashion, the OVJA 1.1 TTRB offers the optimum solution. This full 3-way jacquard machine is capable of fully electronic patterning on both fabric sides, and knits with stripes, transfer and welt, addressing every conceivable fashion requirement capable of being produced on a circular knitting machine today: rib jacquard and structures for both fabric sides using the three-way technique, also applications with welt. Stitch length adjustment for the welt takes place fully automatically. Setting of the 3-way individual needle selection for the cylinder and dial needles is immediate, while stripes and transfer create enormous creative freedom, also for fully fashioned items. The facility for elastomer plating in defined areas is perfect for affording, for instance, sufficient elasticity for waistbands while opening up scope for interesting design variants.
In the case of fully fashioned items, the welt is knitted with separation thread, allowing individual parts to be productively manufactured with less waste and reduced making-up costs. Automatic stitch length adjustment by means of the pattern control system simplifies the work of the operator. Positive needle guidance and cylinder needles with movable butt – a MCT patent – provide enhanced operating reliability and higher stitch precision.
Mayer & Cie. quality for all: BasicLine continued.
With BasicLine, Mayer & Cie. launched a machine series which has enjoyed outstanding success around the world: Machines benefiting from tried and tested Mayer & Cie. quality – made in Germany. What makes BasicLine special: By standardizing production processes and offering wide scope for different equipment configurations, this machine series offers an affordable and highly interesting alternative for certain circular knitting mills.
The success of this machine series has been moved up a notch with new models for the ITMA which substantially extend the application scope of the BasicLine models.
BasicLine double jersey – even greater output due to more feeders.
Following on from the D4-2.2 for interlock, rib and other popular double jersey structures, the D4-3.2 has now been added to the range. This machine also knits interlock and all double jersey structures to a high standard of quality. High performance is provided by 3.2 feeders per inch (96 feeders with a 30” diameter) and a speed of 1.4 m/s, corresponding to 35 rpm with a 30” diameter.
The D4-3.2 comes with 2 needle types and 2 needle tracks in the dial and the cylinder as standard. The machine’s design is configured for 2 needle tracks in the dial and up to 4 needle tracks in the cylinder. Ceramic yarn feeders are supplied as a standard feature, and with “Quick Change”, high-speed gauge changes are guaranteed.
BasicLine single jersey – the right machine for every application.
The S4 machine series features a number of new additions for the ITMA. Alongside the highly successful S4-3.2 for single jersey, 2 and 4 needle structures and single jersey plated, and the SF 4-3.2 for three-thread fleece, there are now S4 machines available with stripes and as a plush version.
What distinguishes these machines is their capability to produce single jersey, three-thread fleece and plush by simply changing the knitting head.
BasicLine for fashion stripes and basic fabrics with high output.
The S4-3.2 R knits fashion striped fabrics with up to 6 colours over 1.6 feeders per inch. The BasicLine striping machine comes equipped with the same proven Mayer & Cie. striping technology used in thousands of machines the world over. An ingenious mechanical functional sequence operates with absolute reliability and minimal maintenance requirement.
Also new is a previously unknown degree of flexibility: The striping miss feeders can be simply replaced by knitting feeders, so providing a high-performance machine featuring 3.2 feeders per inch for basic fabrics like single jersey in 2 and 4-needle structures such as plated single jersey. At the same time, up to 4 needle types for 3 needle positions each offer broad scope in terms of knitted structures. Gauge changes with "Quick Change" are both simple and time-saving, without the need to remove the striping attachments.
Quality plush and basic fabrics with a single machine.
Flexibility is key. This is demonstrated once again by the new BasicLine SP 2-1.6 for sheared plush and reverse plating. Alongside top-quality plush, after a simple conversion the SP 2-1.6 is also capable of high-output basic fabric production.
With up to 2 needle tracks in the cylinder, it permits structures in the ground stitch – whether sheared plush or reverse plated for fleece and structures. Adjustable sinker cams guarantee precise loop positioning every time, reducing shearing losses and ensuring neat, tidy plating.
A simple conversion turns the quality plush machine into a S4-3.2 or SF 4-3.2, which is then capable of knitting single jersey, structures, single jersey plated and also three-thread fleece with 3.2 feeders per inch at high output.
The transparent circular knitting factory – MDA.web
At Mayer & Cie., MDA stands for machine data evaluation (Maschinen Daten Auswertung). By networking the entire machine fleet, production data can be accessed and machine settings carried out. The latest generation offers comprehensive information about the efficiency of each individual machine as well as the entire circular knitting factory – online using the Intranet and Internet. This facility means that MDA.web can be utilized for monitoring each individual machine not only within a producer’s own internal network but also on a worldwide basis over the Internet. MDA.web will be demonstrated in practical operation at the ITMA.
“Always in fashion – Quality!”
Flexibility and productivity using the latest technologies has always been just as much a matter of course for Mayer & Cie. circular knitting machines as the achievement of absolute top quality.
Quality will never go out of fashion – a rule of thumb which is even more applicable when international markets are subject to immense competitive pressure. This applies both to Mayer & Cie. and to its customers – the circular knitting mills. Machine quality means greater productivity, enhanced product quality means a sharper competitive edge.
“Always in fashion – Quality!” – for Mayer & Cie. this still applies today as much as it did 30 or 50 years ago. Because quality is also experience, and relies on outstanding performance in terms of development, design and production.
These attributes all combine to produce “High performance – made and created in Germany” – an aspiration fulfilled by every Mayer & Cie. machine in everyday application.
