First of all, it is essential to gain as precise a picture as possible of the customer’s internal and external structures, if manufacturers are to offer a machine which most precisely matches the buyer’s individual needs. In addition, through optimized customer support it is possible to ensure that the high level of productivity offered by every Mayer & Cie. circular knitting machine is really utilized to the full. This guarantees that investment costs are recouped in the shortest possible time and that the considerable outlay involved in purchasing a high-tech machine pays outstanding dividends.
Against this background, the regional Sales Meetings convened by Mayer & Cie. already for a number of years have proven a highly successful tool. The 3rd Sales Meeting was staged in China in the spring of 2006, and attended by a total of 18 sales and servicing specialists from all of China’s provinces. Participants spent two days concentrating on topics such as “strategic market processing”, “strengthening customer ties”, and “customer satisfaction” as well as “product innovations”. The event was staged in the premises of servicing company Mayer & Cie. China (MCC) Circular Knitting Machines (Shanghai) Co. Ltd.. Mayer & Cie. in Germany was represented by Oliver Scharf (Head of Sales), Hardy Bühler (Area Sales Manager) and Thomas Maier (Sales Promotion).
When the decision was taken at Mayer & Cie. to expand the bottom end of its product range in 2005, it was predominantly the Chinese market the company had in mind. The wisdom of this particular policy move has been proven by the enormous success of the single jersey entry level machine S4-3.2 launched last year, particularly in China. This machine produces single jersey fabrics in 2 or 4 needle structures as well as single jersey plated to a premium standard of quality. In addition to the standard take-down using a wrapping winder mechanism and MCT trapazoidal spreader, a fabric takedown for layering is now also offered as an optional extra. The facility for changeover to three-thread fleece production makes the S4-3.2 an even more versatile option. With up to 4 needle types and 3 needle positions each, it permits a broad range of different knitted constructions. The S4-3.2 is offered in gauges ranging from E18 to E32 and in diameters from 30“ to 38“.
The general consensus at the meeting was that the move to expand the product range can only further improve sales opportunities, particularly in the Chinese market.
The D4-2.2 for the double face sector pursues the same concept of expansion at the bottom end of the product range. The new machine will be available from the middle of 2006. This machine is designed for up to 4 needle tracks in the cylinder, making it the ideal solution for interlock and rib constructions – but also for all other popular double jersey knit goods. The D4-2.2 is available in gauges from E18 to E32 and in diameters from 30” to 38”. The cylinder and dial are quickly changed using the tried and tested “Quick-Change” system for different gauge ranges.
This machine is certain to meet with an enthusiastic response in China, and meeting participants expressed their optimism about the machine’s market chances.
