Not only are these electronic jacquard circular knitting machines universal in application and highly productive, they are totally reliable and supply an impressive standard of knitting quality. These wide-ranging benefits are appreciated not only by knitwear producers but have also long since been taken on board by other business sectors such as mattress production and the automotive supply industry. The comprehensive patterning scope of the OVJA 1.6 ET in particular is broadened by its additional facility for producing transfer knits. At the same time, the machine’s electronic pattern resetting capability and externally adjustable cam elements in the dial cam box reduce resetting times to a minimum. The electronic individual needle selection system with just one selection magnet per feeder has been proven thousands of times in practical application and is renowned for its absolute reliability and handling simplicity. Customers are given a 3-year warranty on this selection technique, which is unique and patented to Mayer & Cie. The OVJA 1.6 ET knits using the two-way or three-way technique – precisely in line with the requirements of the job in hand.
Another important factor, particularly for mattress producers, are the ceramic yarn feeders for thread inlay between the cylinder and dial needles. The OVJA 1.6 ET comes with a gantry frame for 520 mm fabric rolls, a motor-powered fabric take-down, rubber take-down rollers and MCT trapezoidal spreader as standard, but can also be supplied with an industrial frame for 920 mm fabric rolls. When processing elastomer and other sensitive yarns, the Mayer & Cie. open-width frame for 330 mm fabric rolls is recommended, and comes with either hinging or space-saving sliding doors. A new feature which is of primary interest for mattress and automobile upholstery fabric production is the new industrial frame with open-width device for fabric rolls up to 600 mm. This large open-width frame is available for all Mayer & Cie. single and double jersey machines with the exception of the OVJA 1.1 TTRB.
As is true of all Mayer & Cie. open-width devices, the industrial frame is characterized by even take-down and winding on without distorting the fabric. The electronically controlled EPA fabric take-down permits 100% positive fabric handling action which ensures even take-down and wind-on over the entire width of the fabric, reliably preventing both fabric creases and distortion. Fabric take-down can be set at the machine display and is consequently reproducible at any time. Gentle, precise cutting is ensured by a power- driven continuously self-sharpening blade. Here too, absolute reproduction accuracy is ensured by the use of a graduated scale for setting to the relevant fabric width.
Like all Mayer & Cie. machines, the OVJA 1.6 ET can be integrated using an interface for MDA (machine data acquisition) into a monitoring network which operates via FTP access and IP addresses both globally and individually. The associated on-going productivity checks make just as valuable a contribution to streamlining as the scope for loading new patterns either directly on site or at machines in other producing locations around the world.
